Course Description

This one-on-one program builds on Module 5 and provides one-on-one personalised coaching to help IT Leaders and Executives craft a comprehensive IT strategy tailored to their organisation's unique needs. Participants will receive structured Strategic Plan templates, and personal guidance on establishing strategic context, identifying stakeholders, conducting SWOT analysis, formulating strategic objectives, developing coherent action plans, and managing risks.

Key Learning Areas

Week 1:

  1. Coaching Session 1 (4 hours):

  • Establish Strategic Context: Review the organisation's mission, vision, goals, and current IT landscape.

  • Identify Key Stakeholders: Understand their needs, concerns, and expectations regarding IT.

  • SWOT Analysis: Assess internal strengths and weaknesses, external opportunities and threats.

    2. Individual Effort (4 hours):

  • Research: Explore industry trends, competitor strategies, and emerging technologies.

  • Document: Capture findings, insights, and potential strategic directions.

  • Assess internal budget and resource constraints.

Week 2:

  1. Coaching Session 2 (4 hours):

  • Formulate Strategic Objectives: Define clear, measurable goals aligned with the organisation's mission.

  • Develop Coherent Actionable Strategies: Create a roadmap with specific initiatives, timelines, and resource allocation.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Week 3:

  1. Individual Effort (4 hours):

  • Finalise IT Strategy Document: Complete a comprehensive, well-structured IT strategy that outlines goals, strategies, action plans, budget considerations, and evaluation metrics.

  • Coach / facilitator review and feedback on draft strategy

  • Present and Review: Share the draft strategy with stakeholders, gather feedback, and refine as needed.

Additional Considerations

  • Detailed strategic planning guides and templates will be provided to the participant.

  • This module can be tailored to the specific needs and complexity of the participant's organisation.

  • The facilitator will discuss and agree on a completion plan with the individual.

  • The facilitator will review and provide feedback on a draft Strategic Plan submission and may recommend additional resources or readings to deepen the participant's understanding of IT strategy.

  • The final IT strategy document should then provide the individual with a living document that is reviewed and updated regularly to ensure alignment with the evolving needs of the organisation.
